Look to the Stars: Be the First to Own a Lucid Air
If you've ever wanted a low-serial number car, now's the time to invest in Lucid Motors new Air. The company is presently accepting $25,500 deposits toward the purchase price of $160,000 (give or take a few thousand) for the newest American made automobile. Early deliveries of the all-electric, all-wheel drive Air are currently slated for the first half of 2019, so there will be a short wait. However, the first 255 special edition Lucid Air vehicles come loaded with options to challenge Tesla's electric all-wheel drive Model S.
To be manufactured at Lucid's factory in Casa Grande, AZ, the plant expects to begin producing the Air sometime in early 2017. This model will feature a glass canopy roof that extends from the car's hood to its trunk lid providing a one-of-a-kind view of the sky above. The sound system will include a 29-speaker configuration to take your music to a whole new level. At this time, other options include an executive rear seating package and new battery charging technology developed by Lucid to allow for repeated fast charging without degrading the 100kWh battery pack. The vehicle's distance on a single charge is expected to be in the 300-mile range.
At this time, the American automaker estimates that first-year production will be between 8,000 to 10,000 units. If the $160k price tag is too rich for your wallet, Lucid has plans to release a standard-equipped version starting around $85,000 that will feature the same advanced electric-powered drive train. At some point, the automaker intends to extend the vehicle's range to 400 miles from a single charge. Lucid is already working with Samsung SDI to develop a 130 kWh battery pack.
With an all glass roof providing a view that is out of this world and a killer sound system that will blow any music lover away, owning one of the first 225 serial numbers to roll off the assembly line would seem appealing to any collector. After all, for a down-payment of just over $25k, you will likely be the only person in your neighborhood driving a hardtop with a convertible view of the sky above.
