Meet Team E3 Racing Winner Marcus Method, Jr.

Team E3 Racing member Marcus Method, Jr. has a charitable spirit and a penchant for history. Marcus Method, Jr. is in the midst of this rookie season racing a 1985 Chevy Monte Carlo in the Street Stock Division at Baer Field Speedway in Fort Wayne, Indiana. He’s currently ranked 18th of 38 drivers and has his eye trained on a Rookie of the Year win come season’s end. Esquire Magazine Declares 2013 Cadillac ATS its 2012 Car of the Year

“Esquire” just named the 2013 Cadillac ATS its 2012 Car of the Year. Do you agree? So Esquire Magazine, the grandfather of metrosexual men’s manuals, just released its annual list of the American driver’s top rides. And the 2012 Esquire Car of the Year winner is (drumroll…) the 2013 Cadillac ATS. “It is perhaps the single most important thing Detroit has built in years, and it is one hell of a car to boot,” the magazine says. The car definitely is a risk for the company, which has thus-far faltered a bit with its small car attempts. The 2013 ATS is Cadillac’s first true compact sedan and is designed to go head-to-head with BMW. In fact, it’s been touted as being a sport sedan similar to the BMW 328i. It’s got a lighter...

How to Revive Your Flood-Damaged Car

Well, that sucks. But perhaps all is not lost. Flooded vehicles often can be revived if you know what to do. If torrential downpours this hurricane season have left your vehicle a soaked, soggy mess, you might not be totally out of luck. A flood-damaged ride can be revived if you handle it correctly. E3 Spark Plugs offers a few tips for safely resurrecting your car’s engine and electronics. Whatever you do, don’t try to start a flooded out car no matter its condition. You could cause a short circuit which, at best, will fry your car’s electronics or, at worst, start a fire. Carefully remove your vehicle’s battery, starting with the negative terminal. Then, turn on your headlights to fully drain any power that might remain in your car’s wiring circuit....

E3 Spark Plugs Flick Picks – Two Movies with Odd Car Choices

New movie “Hit and Run” features one of the oddest mix of car chase cars we’ve seen yet. Here at E3 Spark Plugs, we love a good movie car chase. Over these past few weekends, Hollywood served up a few of the most unexpected yet. One features two machine-gun wielding heavies crammed into a Smart Car, of all things. Another is simply the non-standard mix of chase cars we’ve ever seen. While it’s chewing up and spitting out the box office competition this weekend, The Expendables 2 is also generating talk for its shoot-’em-up airport scene, featuring Bruce Willis and Arnold Schwarzenegger battling bad guys from behind the dashboard of a Smart Car. “My shoe is bigger than this car,” quips Schwarzenegger’s character, Trench, after...

Can You Imagine August Without Car AC? E3 Spark Plugs Shares a History Lesson

Can you imagine August without your auto air conditioning? Though it’s beginnings trace back to 1884 it didn’t fully catch on until nearly a century later. The earliest motor vehicles may have revolutionized family and individual travel, but comfort was not exactly a priority. No windows meant cool rides in the summertime if your vehicle was capable of the 15mph top speed, but you’d better bundle up in the wintertime. Then, when automakers started closing up cabs, things got really heated. But as they say, necessity is the mother of invention. And as car ownership increased, so too did the need to keep one’s cool behind the wheel. Initial attempts at keeping closed-cab vehicles cool involved placing vents in car floorboards. But this just sucked more dirt and...
