The Los Angeles Auto Show is in full swing and a walk through the exhibit halls is like a theme park visit. If you’re in the area and can snag a ticket, E3 Spark Plugs highly recommends you stop by, but wear comfortable shoes and plan a full day.
Topping news from the LA Auto Show are several high-profile debuts of some very cool rides, including the new Toyota RAV4, Subaru Forester, Porsche Cayman, Chevrolet Spark EV and Audi diesels. Do not miss the Porsche hall, the James Bond-preferred Aston Martins or the 2014 SLS AMG Black Series Mercedes-Benz.
“This is what you get when we let our engineers just go wild and crazy,” said Rob Moran of Mercedes-Benz. “When it comes to the holiday wish list, it definitely falls in the naughty category.”
Good to know if you’re looking for a Christmas gift sure to impress.
If you’re in the market for a true power car, take a gander at the 2014 Jaguar XFR-S, Lexus LFA, Nissan GT-R or Dodge Viper – yes, it’s back after a brief hiatus. And, while you won’t be able to see the prototype until next year, check out renderings of Galpin Auto Sports’ top-secret supercar project. Company President Beau Boeckmann says the GTR-1 prototype, designed in the spirit of the late Carroll Shelby, is what the Ford GT would have looked like had the company continued production of the legendary ride.
If you’ve got rugrats, bring ‘em. There are multiple kid-friendly exhibits featuring the cast of Disney/Pixar’s Cars films and Nintendo’s Super Mario Bros. games. Plus, an interactive video exhibit lets your little dancers trip the light fantastic with one of the Kia hamsters.
Oh, and definitely be on the lookout for the celeb set. Actors Patrick Dempsey and Mila Kunis, TV host Jay Leno and KISS’ Paul Stanley all have made appearances.
