Fast and Furious Just Won't Stop

If you've been wondering just how long the wildly successful Fast and Furious film franchise can keep living before losing its luster, producer and star Vin Diesel has some good news for you. He recently confirmed to reporters that as the car-crazed franchise' eighth, ninth and 10th installments are in development, so too are several spin-off films.

All we know thus far is that those spin offs, as well as a few prequels, will feature Dwayne Johnson's character Hobbs, a diplomatic security service agent.

Next up, though, is Fast & Furious 8, slated for release April 14, 2017. It will take place primarily in New York with scenes in Los Angeles, Tokyo and the Dominical Republic. Reports are the next film will focus on Kurt Russell's character, Mr. Nobody, and detail his backstory. According to Diesel, Director Gary Gray (Straight Outta Compton) will "bring the darkness out and bring out the character."

One interesting factor is that the plot reportedly has yet to cut out late actor Paul Walker's character, Brian O'Connor. Walker was killed in a car accident during the time that Furious 7 was being filmed and his character's appearances were completed by his brothers, both of whom bear a strong resemblance to the actor.

"Paul Walker used to say that eight was guaranteed. And in some ways, when your brother guarantees something, you sometimes feel like you have to make sure it comes to pass." Diesel recently told reporters, "Seven was for Paul. Eight is from Paul."
