The New Year always means new rides. And we here at E3 Spark Plugs are anxiously awaiting the arrival of several in 2014. Here are our top three picks:
- 2014 Porsche 918 Spyder Hybrid: Inspired by the vintage 917 racers with a black-and-white livery scheme, the new Porsche 918 Spyder Hybrid can go 0-60 in 2.8 seconds and is capable of speeds of over 211 mph. And, it can go about 18 miles on a charge before switching over to the gasoline engine. It’s pricey, though. A limited-edition model will set you back a cool $970,000. Look for it in early 2014.
- 2014 Tesla Model X: This one is perhaps the most anticipated debut of the year. Touted as a cross between a stylish SUV and a practical-yet-uber-cool minivan, the specs include a futuristic touchscreen dashboard, luxury interior and, of course, those flashy falcon wing doors. This ain’t your typical soccer mom-mobile. It can hit 60 mph in under five seconds and is expected to run about $70,000.
- 2015 Ford Mustang: Rumored to hit the showrooms in April, the 2015 Ford Mustang is expected to generate a major buzz, especially considering that 2014 marks the iconic pony car’s 50th anniversary. Expect a 2.3 L, 16-valve turbo engine with manual and auto transmission, with Ford opting for a split-and-jointed drive axle for the first time ever.
