Hord Grabs First Career Pro Mod Win at Carolina Nationals

Rick Hord got the weekend off to a good start at the E3 Spark Plugs NHRA Pro Mod Drag Racing Series portion of the Carolina Nationals earning the Number One spot in Saturday's qualifying rounds. He piloted his 2016 turbocharged Corvette to a 5.681 ET at 258.67 mph to lay claim to the second-fastest pass in Pro Mod history. Dallas Pro Mod winner Jeremy Ray qualified second overall on his Friday run in the "Carolina Kingpin" 63' Corvette at 5.683 ET at 251.91 mph, making it the third-quickest run in the history of the class. The E3 Spark Plugs Pro Mod Drag Racing Series returned to the track over the weekend for the Seventh Annual AAA Insurance NHRA Midwest Nationals at Gateway Motorsports Park. Coming off his most recent win at the U.S. Nationals, Stevie "Fast" Jackson made it back-to-back victories in the doorslammer class. Smith Claims Third Win in E3 Spark Plugs Pro Mod Series at Summit Nationals

E3 Spark Plugs NHRA Pro Mod Series kicked off the second half of 2018 with great performances at the 12th Annual Summit Racing Equipment NHRA Nationals outside Norwalk OH. In Friday's second qualifying session, Rick Hord posted a 5.754-second pass at 254.76 mph to lead the pack as the Number One qualifier in his 2016 Corvette. Mike Janis Wins E3 Spark Plugs Pro Mod Final at Virginia Nationals

Sunday's final run in Pro Mod set the stage for a battle of Al Anabi Performance (AAP) supercharged Chevy Camaros. Staring at the backside of a Mike Janis Supercharger, Janis posted a 5.821-second pass at 246.26 mph to claim the fifth Wally of his career with a victory at the E3 Spark Plugs NHRA Pro Mod Drag Racing Series held at Virginia Motorsports Park. Richie Smith Claims His Second E3 Spark Plugs NHRA Pro Mod Win

It isn't a surprise to fans of the E3 Spark Plugs NHRA Pro Mod Series that Rickie Smith is on track for another successful season. No one works harder or has more fun racing Pro Mod. However, the long weekend at Heartland Motorsports Park saw relative newcomer Chad Green waiting out the rain showers while holding on to the Number One qualifying position. In his second qualifying run on Friday, Green ran a 5.762 pass at 250.13 mph in the Bond-Coat 2017 Corvette. Steven Whiteley was seeded second with a faster speed of 252.28 mph but a slower ET of 5.782. Eventual winner Rickie Smith held the third place qualifying position with a 5.800 at 248.43 mph.
