Drag racing returns following COVID-19 layoff. E3 Spark Plugs releases the revised schedule for the NHRA Pro Mod racing series for all twelve (12) championship races that remain for 2020. Although the dates have changed, the Pro Mod season opener will kick off at the Amalie Motor Oil NHRA Gatornationals in Gainesville FL on June 5-7 and will conclude at the Dodge NHRA Nationals in Las Vegas NV on October 29-November 1 at “The Strip”. The season, which runs four months and spans the United States, includes new stops at the Route 66 NHRA Nationals in Chicago on July 9-12, the Lucas Oil NHRA Nationals in Brainerd on August 15-16, and the AAA Texas NHRA FallNationals in Dallas on October 15-18.
After winning the 2019 Pro Mod World Championship, Augusta-native Stevie “Fast” Jackson has been sheltering at home with wife Cheri and daughter Sophie just waiting for the E3 Spark Plugs Pro Mod 2020 racing season to get underway. Although the NHRA had completed its season openers, Jackson and his fellow Pro Mod regulars were scheduled to participate in the first Pro Mod event of the new year at Gainesville Raceway when the COVID-19 pandemic disrupted the season opener. It should be noted that track officials will still continue to monitor local, state and federal recommendations and restrictions as it relates to hosting the event. Fingers crossed and let’s Go RACING!
