America's Next Supercar: The 2016 Rezvani Beast

Last year, a relatively unknown automaker made a bold claim. Irvine, CA-based Ferris Rezvani of Rezvani Motors announced that his company would create America's next supercar. Well, let the scoffers eat their words. We here at E3 Spark Plugs are duly impressed not only with the new Rezvani Beast itself, but the fact that, as supercars go, it's relatively affordable.

Based on the company's lightweight, track-focused Ariel Atom, the Beast boasts some impressive features, including:

  • A 500-hp Honda Racing K24 DOHC 2.4L Rotrex™ Supercharged and Intercooled engine
  • 6-speed close ratio manual transmission
  • Carbon steel chassis
  • Carbon fiber body
  • Alcon 4 piston competition breaks and Alcon race brake pads
  • Independent forged aluminum suspension with anti-roll bars in the front and rear
  • Bilstein 10-way high performance adjustable dampers in the front and rear
  • 19-inch wheels with 295/30/19 Toyo R888 tires
  • 19-inch front wheels with 235/35/19 Toyo Proxes R888 tires

Those lucky enough to have unleashed a Beast on the roadways say it handles like a road-friendly race car, capable of hitting 60 mph in just 2.7 seconds and topping out at 165 mph. That's comparable to the $845,000 Porsche 918 Spyder, but comes at a relative deal. Base price for a standard-equipped Beast starts around $165,000.

"We wanted to get back to the basics," founder Ferris Rezvani told Yahoo Autos last year. "We wanted to get back to a raw feel, a car with real tactile feedback, with a lightweight chassis."

But you just might want to hold out. The company has plans for two 2016 models. The Beast 300 will house a 2.0-liter turbo and the Beast 500 will have a 2.4-liter supercharged motor.
