Furious 7 Trailer Released – And it’s a Thing of Badass Beauty

Late actor Paul Walker’s final film, Furious 7, is set for release April 2015.

Producers of Furious 7, the latest in the wildly successful film franchise, have released the trailer to the final film starring late actor, philanthropist and racing enthusiast Paul Walker. And we here at E3 Spark Plugs think it’s nothing short of amazing, beginning with a fleet of muscle cars parachuting from a cargo plane, an explosive gun battle and Walker’s character, Brian O’Conner, airborne at the edge of a cliff.

This latest installment, set for release next spring, centers on character Ian Shaw’s (Jason Statham) bloodlust for revenge against Dominic Toretto (Vin Diesel) and his crew for the death of his brother, Owen, a former British Special Forces soldier-turned-mercenary killed by Toretto at the end of Fast and Furious 6. We first see Ian Shaw in the post-credits scene of the most recent film, when the car he’s driving slams into that of Han, a former Toretto crew member who had moved to Hong King. Shaw walks from the wreckage while leaving a cell phone message: “You don’t know me. You’re about to.” Turns out, that fiery crash wasn’t an accident, but Shaw’s first targeted kill.

Furious 7 first began production mid-2013 and came to a heartbreaking halt when Walker was killed in a car crash last November after attending a fundraising event for his Reach Out Worldwide charity. Producers and crew at first weren’t sure whether to proceed, but ultimately chose to forge ahead, believing it was what Walker would have wanted.

At the time of his death, Walker’s dramatic scenes had been shot, but several action sequences were unfinished. So, producers turned to Walker’s brothers, Caleb and Cody, both of whom bear striking resemblances to the late actor.

“Having them on set has made us all feel that Paul is with us, too,” producers wrote in a post on the film’s Facebook page this past April. “This film is the most important we’ve ever done together. It will allow the character of Brian O’Conner to live on and let us celebrate Paul in his most defining role.”
