Dirt track racer Brandon Williams experienced a notable rookie year, landing 11th in the Kankakee County Speedway points for the 2010 season and 23rd in the I-MOD Association series that same year. So, fans were a little surprised to see him take the full 2011 season off. Turns out he had good reason: The birth of his gorgeous young son. But with the 2012 season underway, Williams is gunning for big wins in the dirt late model division, aiming specifically for a UMP (United Midwestern Promoters) National Championship. XGames champs Tanner Foust and Greg Tracy set new world records by successfully completing a 60-foot-tall Hot Wheels Double Loop Dare this weekend at the XGames Los Angeles. The LA cityscape changed a bit this weekend with a real-life replica of the famous bright orange bendy tracks that have lined the play rooms of every American boy since 1968. The double loop structure stood the height of a six-story building and was designed and constructed with the help of physicists who carefully calculated the optimum speed needed for Foust and Tanner’s cars to complete the look without losing to gravity and ending up in a top-down...

Meet Team E3 Racing Winners Dee and Cody Erdmann

Racer Cody Erdmann with Miss Slinger Super Speeday. For Dee Erdmann and son Cody, professional racing is a family affair. Dee entered Cody, 16, in the Team E3 Racing competition and when we read the young racer’s bio, we knew he was a natural. The Erdmann family of Mayville, Wisconsin loves racing and has spent years doing “anything involving going fast and turning left” before forming CHE Racing. Young Cody spent his formative years in the garage, watching his dad build racecars. It soon became apparent that the toddler was paying close attention when, at age two, he picked up a fallen lug nut and put it back on the car perfectly. As any gearhead knows, it’s easy to put a lug nut on wrong. That moment would prove a positive omen for Cody’s life. The boy...

In a study commissioned by Halfords, an online retailer of bike and auto tech accessories, red cars attract more bird droppings than any other color. A mere one percent of green cars got hit – A statement from our feathered friends (or foes, if you drive red) on the eco-movement, perhaps? Here’s how the most popular car colors...

Meet Team E3 Racing Winner Dusty Lawson

Team E3 Racing winner Dusty Lawson and his father race sprint cars in the Northern Outlaw Sprint Association. Dusty Lawson probably first heard the rumble of a racing engine from the womb. “I have been around racing since I was born and went to my first race at seven months old,” says the third-generation racer and new Team E3 Racing winner from Minot, North Dakota. Lawson’s grandfather first fired up the family’s racing heritage in the 1950s and raced through the 1970s. His father followed suit, starting his racing career in 1980 and continuing today. Spending his childhood in the garage and at the tracks solidified Lawson’s choice to take up the family business when he came of age. He began helping in the pits at age 14 and by 17, had his own racecar....

Ferrari Restoring “King of Cool??? Steve McQueen’s 275 GTB/4

Actor Steve McQueen's Ferrari 275 GTB/4 is being fully restored. He’s known as the King of Cool for multiple reasons – not the least of which is the massive collection of some of the world’s coolest cars he amassed before his death in 1980. Now, Steve McQueen is back in the headlines for one of those cars – a 275 GTB/4 that the actor bought in San Francisco while filming 1968′s Bullitt. Sometime during the 1980s, the car’s subsequent owner decided to give it bit of a makeover. He had the roof chopped off, transforming it in to faux-Spyder, presumably thinking he could trick the automotive world, or at least his none-the-wiser buddies, into believing he was the proud owner of one of just 10 authentic 275 GTB/4 NART Spyders existing. News of the chop...
