E3 Spark Plugs Highlights the Players in Pro Mod: Danny Rowe

Nashville, TN, (May 15, 2018)…One of today’s most exciting classes in NHRA drag racing has become the Pro Mod series that is now in its first season, sponsored by E3 Spark Plugs. The 2018 E3 Spark Plugs NHRA Pro Mod Drag Racing Series presented by J&A Service is the only one that allows multiple makes of cars, builders and engines to compete on a level playing field. This combination is now drawing ever increasing throngs of fans to each city that Pro Mod races at NHRA. The 2018 season is shaping up again as one packed with thrills as barely hundredths-of-a-second divides the number 1 with the 16thqualifier, from entries topping 30 cars per event.

One of the competing racers is Danny Rowe, from Laguna Hills, CA. Danny started racing  competitively in 1998. Rowe says, “I always loved cars and grew up as a mechanic. I always had a passion for vehicles. I decided that I wanted to build a really fast street car. I got excited about the outlaw pro street class of racing and we built a blown ’69 Camaro to start out with. We loved it and had a lot of fun and experienced some success with it.” As drag racing evolved on the west coast, Rowe says he saw a lot of changes in rules packages with the street car class, so they moved up to pro modified. “I have always loved supercharged door cars,” says Rowe. His latest in fact, campaigning a new 2018 Camaro. Helping them get the car down the track the fastest, Hoosier Tire, LAT Race Oil, VP Fuels, Rick Jones Racing and QuarterMax.

Rowe fills his trophy room with quite a few accolades from the past 20 years. He claims a bevy of awards such as being the first blown car to win an NHRA national in 2001. In addition, they have taken NHRA wins in Englishtown, Charlotte, Dallas, twice in Houston and twice in St. Louis. Rowe also claimed a championship title in his regional Westcoast Pro Mod Assoc. as well. “Winning races is a great time at the track,” says Rowe. “My favorite, was my first win in 2001, when we had my old ’38 Chevy. At that time we were the west coast team, coming out to race the big names on the east cost that were racing NHRA. We ran a competitive program that day, we were consistent and we won. All of my kids were tiny and they were all with me at the time; one of my favorite moments.”

Rowe plans to compete in the full Real Pro Mod Association, 12-race NHRA series in 2018. Also in his sights for the year is the August World Series of Pro Mod in Denver, for the $100,000 winner-take-all. Rowe claims his top speed in the ¼ mile is 5.79 @ 252 MPH.

Ask Rowe his favorite motorsports hero and he’ll tell you he is very partial to those that have made things happen and their contribution to Pro Modified racing. “The great ones,” says Rowe, “Shannon Jenkins, Ed Hoover, and at the top of the list, Scotty Cannon. All those guys for making it what it is today.”

Rowe says that when he is not at the track, he is usually not home very often, and that most of his off time is still spent traveling. “I’m very fortunate,” chuckles Rowe. “I travel a lot. My kids are all across the United States, and family is very important to us. We travel a lot to spend time with them, plus my business in Europe and racing. I’m typically home about a week per month.” Just for a fun fact that many may not know, Rowe is an avid hockey fan; his 2nd favorite sport. “I’m from Calgary. So you can imagine, it’s been rough. I go to Ducks games in Orange County, and been at every Calgary game. For 27 losses in a row, I’m a visitor at somebody else’s arena. I was at them all, and then we won a game!”

Danny Rowe has built a formidable career over the years and he says that he is very excited for E3 to be a part of what’s happening with Real Pro Mod Association, and NHRA. “It’s helping us get to that next level with corporate sponsorship,” says Rowe.

Just like Danny Rowe, E3 appreciates the support from the racers/teams/participants competing in the E3 Spark Plug Pro Mod class of the NHRA and we are excited for the 2018 season. ?Rob Fisher, E3 Director of Motorsports says, “We are very thankful for everyone in the sport and everyone in the stands!”
