E3 Spark Plugs Named NHRA Event Sponsor for Indy

The National Hot Rod Association (NHRA) has announced that E3 Spark Plugs will be the title sponsor of the NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing Series national event on July 11-12 at Lucas Oil Raceway. The Indianapolis event will mark the return to the track of the world’s fastest vehicles in one of the most dramatic seasons in drag racing history. The COVID-19 pandemic has forced promoters and the sanctioning body to adjust (and readjust) schedules to ensure a meaningful fan experience while allowing drivers and teams to compete for year-end honors. The E3 Spark Plugs NHRA Nationals will be the first of back-to-back race weekends at the popular Indianapolis track.

E3 Spark Plugs is the Official Spark Plug and Official Ignition Products of NHRA. “Over the years, we have been actively involved in sponsorship across many racing platforms,” said Todd Arey, President of E3 Spark Plugs. “Along with developing high-performance DiamondFIRE ignitions and racing plugs, our company takes great pride in being the primary sponsor for the E3 Spark Plugs NHRA Pro Mod Drag Racing Series presented by J&A Service.” In addition, E3 has sponsorship agreements with several of the Top Fuel and Funny Car teams competing at the highest level in the NHRA. Senior management also reminds all race fans to honor the many healthcare workers that have sacrificed to make the restart of the 2020 season possible at Lucas Oil Raceway.

“We know race fans around the world are eagerly awaiting the relaunch of the 2020 NHRA Mello Yello Drag Series,” added Steve Joiner, V.P. of National Sales. “With a modified scheduled, every pass down the 1000-foot strip at Indy will have added importance as drivers earn valuable points toward the NHRA Championship.” In recent years, E3-powered race cars have won more than 150 NHRA Wallys and accounted for eight NHRA National Championships. This will be the third of the nineteen events scheduled for the 2020 Mello Yello drag racing season. Coverage at the historic venue will be broadcast on the FOX family of TV channels with “Live” coverage of Sunday’s final elimination rounds.

The safety of NHRA fans, racers, race teams, officials, and track workers has taken top priority at Lucas Oil Raceway. As the E3 Spark Plugs NHRA Nationals allows racing teams to resume on-track battles in all classes, it will be with fewer spectators allowed and everyone will be required to follow strict COVID-19 guidelines established by the state of Indiana. Limited admission offers will be extended to National Hot Rod Association members and 2020 U.S. Nationals ticket holders.
