E3 Spark Plugs Pro Mod Schedule for 2021

As race fans know too well, the COVID-19 pandemic took a heavy toll on the 2020 E3 Spark Plugs Pro Mod schedule. Thanks to officials at the National Hot Road Association, all of the series’ event sponsors, all of the competing race teams and drivers, and the loyal Pro Mod fans, Steve “Fast” Jackson eventually had an opportunity to win consecutive Pro Mod world championships. Jackson defeated points leader Brandon Snider in a heads-up quarter-final round at the Dodge NHRA Finals hosted by The Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway to claim the title.

Featuring the world’s fastest and most unique doorslammer race cars, the NHRA E3 Spark Plugs Pro Mod Drag Racing Series presented by J&A Service offers something for every kind of hot-rodding enthusiast. The growing class is highlighted by historic muscle cars, like ’67 Mustangs, ’68 Firebirds and ’69 Camaros, as well as a variety of late model American muscle cars. With more than 3,000 horsepower, the suspended door Pro Mod cars travel the quarter-mile in less than six seconds at speeds exceeding 250 mph.

For 2021, the E3 Spark Plugs NHRA Pro Mod Drag Racing Series presented by J&A Service will return to a 12-race schedule. For the first time in the history of drag racing, NHRA Camping World Drag Racing Series and the E3 Spark Plugs Pro Mod Drag Racing Series launch their seasons on March 11-14 at the 52nd annual AMALIE Motor Oil NHRA Gatornationals. New first-time stops for the pro doorslammer class in 2021 include the July 16-18 Dodge Mile-High NHRA Nationals at Denver, CO, and the August 19-22 Lucas Oil NHRA Nationals from Brainerd, MN.

Last year's twelve (12) race series looked nothing like the previous seasons of doorslammer events with several new names and a couple of legendary veterans showing up in Pro Mod event finals, including Chad Greene, Jason Scruggs, Brandon Snider, Jonathan Gray, and Justin Bond. After the smoke settled on The Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway for the championship chase in 2020, the final points standings were Jackson, Snider, Khalid AlBalooshi, Mike Janis, Chad Greene, Gray, and Rickie Smith.

There is a remaining race date and location to be determined for the 2021 racing season. NHRA officials had left a June 18-20 race date open when the Pro Mod schedule was released. However, Wild Horse Pass Motorsports Park recently announced the 2021 NHRA Arizona Nationals scheduled for April 23-25 has been cancelled, which leaves an open date in the spring. NHRA officials plan to announce more details on the final E3 Spark Plugs schedule along with other specialty series.
