The 2014 Ford Fiesta has been recalled over a fire hazard.
It’s a rough week for Ford owners. Dearborn, Michigan-based Ford Motor Co. this week issued six separate recalls affecting upward of 100,600 vehicles sold throughout North America. Luckily, no injuries, accidents or fires related to the recall-prompting defects have been reported, but you just can’t be too careful. So, E3 Spark Plugs wants to make sure you know whether the Ford you’re driving might be affected.
Here’s a rundown of the six recalls:
- 92,022 2013-2014 Ford Taurus, Lincoln MKS and Police Interceptor sedans; 2013-2014 Ford Flex and Lincoln MKT crossovers; 2012-2014 Edge crossovers and 2014 Lincoln MKX crossovers: Ford officials warn that the right-hand halfshaft isn’t properly seated and may disengage over time, and that these rides are at risk of rolling unexpectedly if they’re parked without the parking brake on.
- 5,264 2011-2014 F59 commercial stripped chassis: Corrosion in the electrical junction block could cause these vehicles to short circuit, boosting the risk your ride will lose electrical power or even catch fire.
- 2,124 2014 Ford Escape SUVs: The bond on these rides’ panoramic glass roofs were improperly cured, and thus can leak or even separate from the vehicles.
- 635 2014 F53 motor home stripped chassis and F59 commercial stripped chassis: Faulty brake calipers can cause a leak and a loss in braking performance.
- 368 2014 Transit Connect vehicles: This one is primarily for Ford owners in Puerto Rico. Brake reservoir caps in vehicles shipped there have European labels that don’t conform to US labeling requirements.
- 197 2014 Ford Fiesta subcompacts: The fuel tanks may be missing an adhesive layer. This can cause a fuel leakage, boosting the risk of your ride catching fire.
Ford says it will notify registered owners of all recalled rides. So if you own one, check your mailbox for word on how to get a free-of-charge repair or replacement. In the meantime, be extra careful on the roadways.
