Fans of powersports racing exploded with excitement as Walker Fowler brought home his second-straight Grand National Cross Country Pro ATV Championship on October 5th. Part of the Yamaha Racing team, Fowler has quickly become a fan favorite in recent years. The title race, held in Clairsville, Ohio, was definitely one for the history books.
“Fowler dominated the cross-country ATV circuit this season and consistently demonstrated why the YFZ450R is the racers’ top sport ATV of choice, with the power, durability and performance to consistently top the podium,” said Steve Nessl, Yamaha’s ATV / SxS group marketing manager. “A big congratulations from everyone at Yamaha to Walker and his team for another amazing season.”
Fowler holds a commanding lead of 326 points in the XC1 Pro ATV series. This includes 7 first-place finishes, and 11 podium finishes which locks in his 2016 title well before the final race of the series to be held at the Ironman Raceway in Crawfordsville, Indiana.
“To race and win the best cross-country class in the nation feels amazing, especially two years in a row,” Fowler said. “Thanks to Yamaha for the consistent performance of the YFZ450R, and for supporting not only my team, but the ATV racing community as a whole.”
Fowler secured his very first XC1 Pro ATV championship title in 2015, adding to his growing resume of wins which include the XC2 Pro-AM, Schoolboy (13-15), College A, and 90cc mod. classes which date back to the beginning of his career in 2006.
“I'm attracted to ATV racing because of the family atmosphere,” Fowler says. “I gave up a normal childhood and devoted my life to racing. I wanted only to be a racer. And I have the best parents in the world that backed me all the way to get me here – I owe them everything!”
