Stevie “Fast” Jackson already clinched his first world championship with a victory at the rain-delayed NTK NHRA Carolina Nationals in Charlotte NC. But, the native of Augusta GA, also known as the Honey Badger, has one purpose in life and that's to win races behind the wheel of whatever he's driving at any track he's racing at. So, it was of no surprise to the elite field of Pro Mod competitors that he showed up at The Strip in Las Vegas and was the Number One qualifier. Jackson's pass of 5.735 at 250.37 mph set the stage for Stevie "Fast" to cap off one of the most impressive seasons in E3 Spark Plugs NHRA Pro Mod Drag Racing Series presented by J&A Service.
The Honey Badger put an exclamation point on his amazing, championship winning season in the doorslammer division of NHRA by winning Sunday's Pro Mod at the 19th annual Dodge NHRA Nationals presented by Pennzoil at The Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway. After winning his fourth Number One qualifier award of 2019 seasonin his blown Bahrain 1 Racing Camaro, Stevie "Fast" eliminated defending E3 Spark Plug Pro Mod world champion Mike Janis, Scott Oksas and Mike Castellana to reach his eighth final round this year. Moreover, with the win over Todd Tutterow in the final round at Las Vegas, Jackson finished the year with the most points in class history.
The series was presented by Elite High Performance in Las Vegas and served as the final event of the 12-race 2019 E3 Spark Plugs Pro Mod season. Although Jackson clinched his first career World Title in the class at the previous event in Charlotte, racing fans expected no less than one more dominant performance in his remarkable season. The highly competitive Jackson finished off the year in his Bahrain1 Racing Chevrolet Camaro by going 5.788-seconds at 247.84 mph to beat Tutterow. It was Jackson's fourth victory this season and the ninth in his career. A couple of years ago when Stevie "Fast" hooked up with crew chief Billy Stocklin, the Georgia Boy announced to the racing world that he was here to win a championship.
Ironically, it was Todd Tutterow who has served as the Honey Badger's mentor. In fact, Jackson credits Tutterow with teaching him how to race a Pro Mod with a blown engine. Tutterow defeated Bob Rahaim, Jim Whiteley and Steve Matusek at the E3 Spark Plugs Pro Mod event at The Strip to reach his fifth career final round. Elite High Performance was the presenting sponsor for the E3 Spark Plugs NHRA Pro Mod Drag Racing Series race in Las Vegas, as the class wraps up a memorable 2019 season that has had eight different winners. The "run-what-you-brung" class is a fan favorite and includes historic vehicles, like a ’67 Mustang, ’68 Firebird or ’69 Camaro, as well as a variety of late model Ford, Chevrolet and Dodge muscle cars.
